After a 3-12 start, it was unlikely that we would see Temple preparing for a Big East tournament matchup.

But, after a four game winning streak to end the season, the Owls sit with a record of 7-12 and 3-2 in Big East play as a 3-2 overtime win over Villanova last Saturday allowed them to clinch the number two seed in the tournament.

Oddly enough they will open up the tournament against third seed Villanova. The other matchup features top seed UConn squaring off against fourth seed Old Dominion.

In their last game against Villanova, the Owls had to make a late comeback as they trailed 2-1 with 10 minutes to go. But, a goal off the stick of sophomore forward Hattie Kuhns with six minutes to go in regulation tied the game and sent it to overtime.

About six minutes into the extra session, sophomore midfielder Maiyah Brown took a pass from senior forward Alyssa Delp and found the back of the net for the game winning goal.

It was also announced this week that four Owls seniors were named to the Big East all conference teams. Delp and senior midfielder Sarah Deck were named to the first team while senior forward Tricia Light and senior goaltender Haley Mitchell were named to the second team.

The Owls will take the field against the Wildcats on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. and if they advance, the championship game will be played Sunday at 1 p.m. The tournament is being held at Old Dominion.
