Golf Competes in Furman Intercollegiate

Greenville, SC- Men’s golf tied for 10th at the Furman Intercollegiate in South Carolina over the weekend. Sophomore Brandon Matthews finished the tournament four-under 212, placing him tied for fourth overall against the field of 111.

The Owls finished 34-over for the tournament, tying with Samford. Friday would be the best day for the team, finishing with a score of 292. Saturday the Owls scored a 304 and on Sunday the team wrapped up the tournament with a 302.

Senior Matthew Crescenzo finished 1-over 72 on Friday and Saturday, before shooting a 76 on Sunday to place him tied for 26th in the tournament.

Junior Matthew Teesdale shot par of 72 on Friday. He followed that performance up shooting an 80 for the second round, and a 79 on Sunday. Teesdale placed 84th out of the field of 111.

Junior Mike Amole did not place far behind his teammate Matthew Teesdale. Amole finished tied for 87th carding a 78 on Friday, 80 on Saturday and 75 on Sunday. Freshman Evan Galbreath finished 110th with a total score of 250 for the tournament.

Trevor Cone of Virginia Tech won the Furman Intercollegiate with a score of 205. He finished the tournament 11-under par, carrying his team to a tie for first with Georgia State.

Next up for the Temple men’s golf is the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club from April 12-13.
