Welcome back, Owls! With the start of the semester right around the corner, we wanted to provide information on how to get involved with Temple Update. Whether you’re a junior transfer student with tons of production experience, or a freshman with none – you’re in the right place.
If you are interested in being a volunteer for Temple Update for the Fall 2021 semester, please fill out this general interest form HERE. This form was sent out at ‘The Beat,’ so no need to resubmit if you did so with the QR code then.
GENERAL INTEREST MEETING: Our first meeting of the semester will be on Friday (9/27) at 2p in the Atrium of Annenberg Hall. It is recommended that everyone attend this meeting to meet members of the Temple Update senior staff, advisor Peter Jaroff, and to have any questions you may have answered.
ANCHOR AUDITIONS: For those of you with aspirations on becoming an anchor for a Temple Update program, anchor auditions are tentatively scheduled for Thursday, September 2 from 8:30a-10:45a. The sign up link for auditions will be posted sometime in the next week or so, so be sure to continue checking this page for updates. During anchor auditions, each student will have a 5 minute time slot that they will reserve for their audition (for example: 8:30a-8:35a, 9:15a-9:20a, etc). You will be required to write a short script for your audition (example below). Auditions will be held IN-PERSON this semester in Studio 3 of Annenberg Hall. If NONE of the available spots work for you to audition, please email supervising producer Nic Uff at nic.uff@temple.edu.

Example Anchor Audition Script:
For your anchor audition, please write a news brief that includes at least three items and that will take about one minute to read. Your script can include news, sports and weather items. If you are mostly interested in anchoring sports, you can include more sports items. If you are primarily interested in weather, you can include more of a forecast. If you are trying out for Lo Último or Update Ahora, at least part of your script should be in Spanish.
