Cornell used a 10-0 scoring frenzy in the first half to secure a win over Temple women’s lacrosse, 17-9.
The Owls tried to match the Big Red’s first half run with a 5-0 run of their own in the second, however, their effort was not enough.
Cornell scored early and often, including drawing first blood just under a minute and half into the action courtesy of Lindsay Toppe. Temple, however, regained the lead thanks to back to back goals from sophomore Rachel Schwaab in the first 8 minutes of play.
It was at this point, however, that the Big Red took control offensively for their 10-0 run, with seven different players getting marks on their scorecards.
Three Owls contributed to the 5-0 scoring run in the second, highlighted by a Jaymie Tabor hat trick, her first of the season.
Cornell, however, iced the game tallying three straight. including a personal 2-0 run for Catherine Ellis.
Temple got on the board one more time with an unassisted Nicole Tiernan shot with 8 seconds left.
The Big Red was led by Rachel Moody with 5 goals, followed closely behind by Ellis and Toppe with 4 a piece. These three ladies alone outscored the Owls.
The Owls will have a week breather before coming home to Geasey on March 1st to take on Oregon at 1:00 PM.
