Temple’s men’s tennis season ended on Friday, April 18, as the sixth-seeded Owls fell 4-0 to third seed Louisville Cardinals. The Owls’ loss came in the first round of the 2014 inaugural American Athletic Conference Championship. The tournament is being held at the Racquet Club of Memphis, Tennessee.
The Louisville Cardinals did not stop after gaining a 1-0 lead with wins at the first and third doubles matches then easily taking wins at the second, fourth and fifth singles flights. Number 39nation-wide, Louisville defeated Temple in straight sets in each of those matches.
The Cardinals Albert Wagner clinched the match with a 6-2 score over Temple sophomore Hicham Belkssir.
The Owls’ season ends at 11-11 overall and 1-0 in Conference. This season was Temple’s first at .500 since the 2010-2011 season when the Owls finished third overall in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship.
