New Bar Set To Open Off-Campus This Spring

Upperclassmen who partake in drinking are raising their glasses to a new bar in the works just off Temple’s campus called Masters Bar & Restaurant.

Waylon Nelson
Waylon Nelson, manager of the new Master’s Bar & Restaurant, says he wants to open Temple’s latest and greatest hotspot.

The new hotspot is conveniently located on the 1500 block of N. Carlisle Street, right behind the Avenue North businesses. According to General Manager Waylon Nelson, the restaurant is set to open the second week of April, tentatively. He said he hopes to draw in a crowd mixed of students, faculty, alumni, and local residences in the Temple community.

“What I’ve come up with for the menu is a gastro-pub, elevated bar food,” said Nelson.

Nelson is partners with co-owner and former Temple alumnus, John Bryne, who graduated from the Fox School of Business.

The duo hope to utilize the two-floor layout by having the main bar on the first floor and a study lounge upstairs for students to use to grab a drink while getting work done using the free Wi-Fi.

Nelson, who is also the General Manager at the G Lounge located in Center City, aims to create more jobs for college students and hire students as employees for all types of positions.

Masters Bar & Restaurant plans to hold job fairs at the Howard Gittis Student Center in the upcoming weeks.
