One Year Anniversary for Museum of The American Revolution

The Museum of the American Revolution just celebrated its one year anniversary this past weekend. The museum opened on April 19th, 2017, with significance behind that opening date — it was the date of the first battles of the American Revolution at Lexington and Concord.

The museum aims to educate people about the conflict in a fun interactive manner with plenty of activities.

Public Programs Coordinator, Hannah Boettcher, gave more insight on what type of artifacts the museum has to offer.

“We have a privateer ship that has been outfitted with a sea chest and try on clothing, loading and firing a cannon on board there. The amount of storytelling that’s gone on has been really exciting,” says Boettcher.

The museum also offers a unique look George Washington’s original headquarters tent, which has been carefully preserved for generations.

In the museum’s first year of business, it has had over 350,000 visitors with positive reviews coming from many of the guests. Visitor Rebecca Howe said “It’s something different that I’ve ever seen, so I think it was a great experience.”

For those looking to visit the museum, it’s opened every day of the week from 10 AM to 5 PM. The museum also has special summer hours, opening at 9:30 AM and closing at 6 PM.
