After the final round of the Autotrader.com Collegiate Classic at Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth, Georgia, Temple men’s golf placed 13th out of 14 teams.
As a team, the Owls carded a final round total of 300, which resulted in a 12-over-par score for the day. The top four scores on the team were counted for the final round.
Senior Brandon Matthews placed the highest for the Owls after his final round of 1-over-par 73. Matthews finished the tournament in a tie for 29th with a total score of 3-over-par 219.
Sophomores John Barone and Evan Thornton finished the tournament with totals of 12-over-par 228 and 18-over-par 234, respectively. Barone finished the tournament in a tie for 65th after a final round 78 and Thornton finished in a tie for 81st after a final round 76.
Freshman Trey Wren carded a 12-over-par 228 to put him in a tie for 65th after a final round 76. Fellow freshman Sam Soeth finished the day in a tie for 69th after finishing with a total of 13-over-par 229. Soeth shot 75 in the final round.
Lipscomb University won the two-day team tournament after carding a team total of 25-under-par 839. The Bisons’ Dawson Armstrong claimed the individual honors after carding a 16-under-par total of 200.
The Owls will look to improve on their disappointing fall season when they tee it up in the Georgetown Intercollegiate in Bealsville, Maryland at the Members Club at Four Streams from October 19th to October 20th.
