According to OwlScoop.com, Temple Junior kicker Austin Jones is out for the season with a torn ACL sustained in Thursday’s game against Memphis.

The injury occurred in the 4th quarter, on a 95-yard kickoff return in which Jones was blocked by multiple Memphis players.

On the season, Jones has made 10 of 12 field goals, and all 23 of his extra point attempts. Both misses came against Memphis on Thursday. A 43-yard miss in the third quarter snapped a streak of 19 consecutive made field goals dating back to last season, the longest streak in the country.

True-Freshman walk-on Aaron Boumehri will take over for Jones for the remainder of the season. Boumehri made his first career extra point in replacement of Jones in the 4th quarter Thursday night.

Jones, a native of Orlando, Florida, has been the Owl’s starting kicker since his freshman year in 2014.
