On Wednesday, the mens basketball team hosted the Saint Joseph’s Hawks at the Liacouras Center. The Big 5 rivalry has deep history dating all the way back to the year 1901 where the teams first met.
In the first half, it was all Ronald Roberts for the Hawks on both sides of the ball. The six foot-eight big man ended the game with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. A productive first half by Temple point guard Will Cummings gave the Owls a 34-39 lead going into the second half.
Hawks’ guard Langston Galloway led all scorers with 24 points. Cummings and Dalton Pepper’s supreme shooting from beyond the arc gave the Owls the upper edge in the second half.
Anthony Lee’s rebound off his own missed foul shot set him to the line where he sunk another two shots securing a 77-69 win over the Hawks. Lee’s 15 points and 11 boards gave him a double-double for the night. The win moves the Owls to 4-3 on the season and 2-0 in Big 5 play.
The Owls play Texas at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday.
