Owls Take on the 122nd Annual Penn Relays

The 122nd Annual Penn Relays saw track and field athletes come from all over the world to compete for the pride of their respective areas and institutions.

Temple Women’s Track and Field team competed at all three days of the Penn Relays.

“It was some good, some not so good over the course of the weekend, but I always dwell on the positive things.” Head Coach, Elvis Forde, said of his team’s performance at the event.

On day one of the Penn Relays, the Owls saw one of its best performances of the weekend when the 4×100 relay team placed third in the Championship of America event with a time of 47.18. This allowed the team to qualify for the ECAC Championship the next day, in which the team finished seventh.

Freshman Sylvia Wilson also had a great performance in the 100-meter hurdle on day two of the Penn Relays. She finished with a 14.0 mark to place 10th overall, missing a qualification by one place.

Temple’s Female Performer of the Year, Blanca Fernandez wrapped things up in the Olympic Development Mile on the final day of competition. She finished ninth in the event.

The Owls will now look ahead to competing in the American Conference Championships next weekend.
