Recap: Men’s Basketball Tournament Loss

Overtime of the NCAA First Round the Owls faces  loss to Iowa (22-20) at the buzzer. Temple (21-12) earned a game-high 26 points from senior Quenton Decosey in his final game.  He threw a free throw to tie the game with two seconds left in regulation.
Iowa hit a flurry of three-pointers early in the game, forcing Temple to come back from a 12-point deficit in the first half. The Owls trailed by double digits seven minutes into the second half, and never held a lead in that period.
After shooting well over 60 percent early in the half, Iowa slipped to 40 percent by the break, hitting just two of its final 14 attempts and missing its last five. The Owls shot 55 percent.
Iowa’s last field goal of the second half came with 5:08 remaining to give the Hawkeyes an eight-point, 61-53 lead, but Temple still trailed by four with 18 seconds left.

Temple trailed by three early in overtime before taking a two-point lead on a three-point play by DeCosey at 2:40. The Hawkeyes scored just one field goal in a 10-minute stretch from the second half into the end of overtime, with that shot tying the game 68-68 with 1:52 remaining.

Brown answered two Iowa free throws with a jumper at 51 seconds, tying the game for a final time at 70-70. Iowa ran down the clock and missed its first attempt, but Woodbury put it back in for the win.
