Remote Teaching for Philly Schools

All over Philadelphia teachers are preparing to remote teach and stay in touch with their students.

7th-grade science teacher, Amber Johnson spoke about how this process is going.

Amber said that “until May 4th, it’s all 100% optional. It’s just review and enrichment. So to review what we did at the beginning of the school year and practice. And then starting May 4th it’s gonna be attendance and required graded work.”

Teachers are hoping that when the work becomes required again, attendance will grow and grades will improve.

Though, there are still some unanswered questions about how exactly remote teaching will work.

“I’m not sure if I’m going to have to like get up and teach on Google, on video or if I’m just going to have to post new stuff if the districts giving us the stuff to use. That much detail hasn’t been decided”
