Temple Issues a Timely Warning On Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Before Thanksgiving break, Temple Students received an email from Temple University Office of Public Safety informing students of credible reports of sexual misconduct on Temple’s Main Campus.

The email states the incident took place “one during a social event in a residence hall and a second incident at an off-campus location, potentially involving the same suspect who was positively identified.”

There are many ways to report concerns to the university, including confidential options. organizations like Student Activists Against Sexual Assault have a goal of making those options clearer and educating students, especially anyone facing harm or trauma.

According to the annual Security Fire and Safety Report, the numbers around sexual misconduct on Main Campus have fluctuated over the past three years.

The 21CP Audit lays out a wide range of recommendations to help the University strengthen its response.

In a statement to Temple Update, TUPD says it’s completed more than 95% of them. that includes several steps that directly address how the department handles sexual misconduct.

Temple University has placed the student of interest on interim suspension while the investigation continues. They’re also prohibited from being on campus or in university buildings or classes.
