Klein College of Media & Communication at Temple University hosts its final Winter Graduation on Wednesday, December 18. Students are preparing for this final winter graduation a Klein’s leadership shifts their focus to hosting only Spring semester graduation.
Senior Mary Watson believes that graduating in the winter is “a bit more exciting” even though she would be graduating with her friends in the Spring.
Senior Declan Landis believes that his time at Klein college as prepared him for a “real-world environment” as he steps into his professional career.
Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of students participating in Klein College’s winter graduation gradually decreased. This lead Klein’s leadership to discontinue hosting a winter graduation ceremony.
Assistant Dean of Klein College, David Brown, says that this choice was made “to have an even better spring graduation where we could really go all out and really celebrate this important achievement for our student”.
Tyler Device, Assistant Director of Student Success, believes that Klein college’s leadership focuses on career services and other opportunities outside of the classroom to make sure students are “more prepared to get that job” as they graduate.
Klein college has around 100 students eligible to graduate in Fall 2024, but only about half of them are expected to walk in the winter while the others will wait to graduate in the Spring.
