For the second year in a row, Temple Update took home the NATAS Mid-Atlantic student award for best college/university student production in the newscast category. The winning broadcast from December 6, 2018 investigated backlash from comments made by Professor Marc Lamont Hill after a speech he made at the United Nations, and updates on the grand reopening of the Met in Philadelphia.
The newscast was produced by Cassandra Semyon, directed by Logan Moritz, and anchored by Jon Dowding, Simone Stancil, Carl Tienabeso and Dimitrios Kelepouris. Asad Bokhari was the Supervising Producer for the newscast, the Technical Director was Brianna Dent, Andrew Mikida was the Editing Manager, and the full-screen graphics were designed by Maxwell Bass.
A number of Temple alumnae won NATAS Mid-Atlantic awards Saturday, including Rebeccah Hendrickson (6ABC/WGAL) for Special Assignment Reporter, Dan Ray for his work on WLVT’s show “Counter Culture,” and CBS3 producer Monica Avery for “Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope 2018.”
