At the Third Annual Temple Sports Journalism Summit, Temple Update’s Yale Alpert caught up with Flyers Play-by-Play Commentator, Jim Jackson.
In this interview, Jackson discusses his passion for talking to aspiring sports journalism professionals, his path into the industry, and his favorite moments as the Flyers commentator.
Jim Jackson has been the Philadelphia Flyers TV commentator since 1995. In the two seasons prior to his TV career, he was the radio commentator for the Flyers.
Jackson is a native of Utica, New York. He is an alumnus of the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University. Prior to his career with the Flyers, he was the commentator for the Utica Blue Sox of Minor League Baseball and the Utica Devils of the American Hockey League.
Jackson also works for Phillies Radio as a pre-game and post-game analyst; Jackson is also a fill-in commentator for the 4th and 5th inning in all Phillies Radio Broadcasts.
