Dallas, TX — Riding high off of four straight wins and and an undefeated American Athletic Conference record, the Temple University volleyball traveled to Dallas to face off against Southern Methodist University.   They sought a fifth straight win to continue their undefeated record in the conference.  But SMU crushed these hopes by beating Temple with a sweep of three sets to none.

SMU came out strong, only allowing 13 points for the Owls in the first set. The Owls fought hard in the second match only losing 25-23, and then lost the final match 25-17.  SMU performed more kills (44) than Temple (28), which ultimately gave them the advantage.

Sandra Sydlik, out of her usual assisting form, only put up 27 assists on the match, and nine per set. This was down from her usual 11.4 per set that ranked her at 15th overall in the nation just last week. On SMU’s side, Avery Acker put up 39 assists.

Temple’s next game is at Tulsa, on Sunday at 2:30.
