Temple Volleyball Loses to Virginia Tech in Heartbreaking Fashion

It was a nail biting match Friday night in Puerto Rico, filled with thrills and lead changes in which was decided in a 5th set. It would go down to the wire, but in the end, the Owls weren’t able to pull off the victory.


The Temple Owls would lose 3-2 against the Virginia Tech Hokies in the opener of the ‘Puerto Rico Clasico’. Temple started off hot by winning two out of the first three sets, but a dismal fourth set, and a collapse in the fifth, would ultimately lead to their demise in this match.

Individually, Owls junior Irem Asci led the way in kills with 23, and also added onto her performance with 14 digs. Asci also racked up 2 aces. Junior Izzy Rapacz aced her first double double of her career with 14 kills, and 17 digs. Also achieving a career high in blocks with 8.

The loss Fridat night was the Owls’ first of the season after coming off two straight dominant victories against Northern Arizona and Hampton. It was also the Owls’ first match on the road.

The Owls will play their second and final game in the  Puerto Rico Classic Saturday at 3:00 against Alabama.
