Construction is happening all over Temple’s main campus and its changing the look and breathing new life into the university. From Liacouras Walk to Girard Avenue, projects of all kinds are underway.
Major developments like the new library are still underway but others are complete. The most notable is the new sports complex – nicknamed the “Owlplex” located at the intersection of Broad and Master. The new facility features two fields and a track giving needed space to sports teams. It even brought some sports teams back to main campus.
“We have men’s and women’s soccer, cross country, track and field, lacrosse and field hockey down at that site which most significantly, I think brings soccer back to main campus from Ambler,” said Brandon Lausch, Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications.
The library is not finished but the excavation of the site is complete.
“The foundation area has been dug and the concrete I imagine will be poured over the next couple months and the anticipated completion date for that project is still Fall 2018,” said Lausch.
New landscaping on Polett and Liacouras walk, Annenberg Hall interior renovations, Conwell and Carnell Hall renovations and other projects are all different parts of Temple’s current construction work.
Renovations in Conwell Hall have resulted in Student Financial Services being relocated. SFS can now be found at 1700 North Broad St. where it will remain until May 2017.
