Womens Soccer Drops Close Affair To Tulsa

Temple Women’s soccer continued conference play on Sunday falling to Tulsa 2-1. Temples record now stands at 3-9, while Tulsa improves to 5-6-1.

The first half went back and forth and remained scoreless until Temple freshman Molly Tobin opened the scoring with her first career goal in the 41st minute. Tobin capitalized on a rebound opportunity from six yards out.

Tulsa answered with  two goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half to take the league. Darienne Chapman struck first for Tulsa on a rebound from a free kick in the 46th minute. Less than 20 minutes later Tulsa’s Rachel Thun capitalized on a cross and headed the ball by goalkeeper Jordan Nash.

Temple was outshot 16-14 with Junior Gabriella McKeown leading the way with 5 shots for the Owls.

Goalkeeper Jordan Nash had another solid day in net recording 8 saves. She came into the day leading the conference in saves with 64, ahead of second place by 29 saves.

Temple falls to 3-9 with an 0-2 conference record. The Owls continue conference play next Thursday with a trip down to Texas to take on the University of Houston.
