Temple Drops Conference Opener to Memphis

Temple’s Women’s Soccer team took on the Memphis Tigers on a wet and rainy day to kickoff American Athletic Conference play. The Owl’s fought hard keeping a low scoring game, but it was the Tigers that took home the win with a final score of 1-0. Owl’s record now stands at 3-8. While Memphis improves to 7-2-1.

In the 56th minute Memphis’ Jessica Lisi broke left and put a shot in the bottom corner giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

Memphis kept Temple on their toes by taking thirteen shots in the first half. Temple goalkeeper Jordan Nash was on fire stoping 10 shots in the first half.

Temple ended the day with 4 shots on goal to the Tigers 26. Jordan Nash had 17 saves on the day only letting in one goal, a career hight for the sophomore goalkeeper.

Senior Elaine Byerley recorded a yellow card in the 84th minute.

The Owl’s will continue conference play at home against the Tulsa Hurricanes October 2nd at 12 p.m.
