Phillies Defeat Marlins in Wild Card Series

With a 7-1 win in game 2 of the National League Wild Card round, the Philadelphia Phillies have completed the sweep of the Miami Marlins and advanced to Divisional round. Starting pitcher Aaron Nola threw for 7 scoreless innings, allowing only 3 hits and 1 walk. A 6th inning grand slam by second baseman Bryson Stott blew the game open for the Phillies, causing an already electric Citizens Bank Park to erupt into hysteria.

The Phillies are making an MLB playoff run for their second consecutive season. After last season’s disappointing defeat to the Houston Astros in the World Series, The Phillies are fighting back, looking to finish the job and prove last year’s underdog run was not a fluke.

In the National League Divisional round, the Phillies will play against the heavily favored Atlanta Braves in a 5-game series. Philly upset Atlanta 3 games to 1 in last year’s Divisional round and are looking to keep up their momentum and do it again. The Phillies will have to outplay one of the best offensive lineups in MLB history in the 2023 Braves, a team that includes likely National League MVP Ronald Acuna Jr.

The first two games of the series will be in Atlanta at Truist Park, with game 1 on Saturday, October 7th and game 2 on Monday, October 9th, both starting at 6:07pm EST.
