Prime Minister Theresa May calls for early election:

UK Prime Minister Theresa May has called for an early general election. The election is planned to be held on June 8, seeking to strengthen her hand in the European Union exit. May’s governing Conservatives currently have a majority, with 330 out of 650 seats in the House of Commons. With the early election, May hopes to tighten her grip on the Conservative Party.

Facebook murderer shoots himself to death:

On Tuesday, the man who posted a Facebook video of himself murdering a Cleveland, Ohio man has shot himself to death. The manhunt for Steve Stephens crossed several states for less than 48 hours. Pennsylvania police were last pursuing Stephens in Erie County before he took his life.

New Philadelphia museum:

The Museum of American Revolution opens Wednesday in Philadelphia, coinciding with the 242nd of the battle at Lexington and Concord. The museum seeks to show visitors a clear view of our country’s turning points, and museum president Michael Quinn wants to send the message that the revolution was founded upon equality, individual rights, and freedom. Visitors are asked to confront contradictions pertaining to the ideals of the American Revolution.

What If Innovation Festival:

The Career Center hosted the What If Innovation Festival on Tuesday. The event included a “Tower Takeover” at the Bell Tower that showcased the work of Temple entrepreneurs, engineers, artists, and inventors. A Lightning Speaking Panel with local industry leaders and innovators also took place in Mitten Hall.

Be Your Own Boss Bowl:

Temple’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute is set to host its 19th annual Be Your Own Boss Bowl on Thursday, April 19 in the Alter Hall Auditorium. Finalists in four tracks have the to opportunity to compete for $180,000 in cash prizes, including the $40,000 Bernard and Murray Spain Grand Prize. Prizes such as legal, accounting, technology, and public relation services are also available. Winners will participate in Temple’s Summer Studio, a program that offers mentoring, as well as the opportunity to meet potential investors.
