Temple University has officially rolled out its new athletics logo this semester, marking the start of a new era. The modern design includes the Temple-T with an open winged owl silhouette inside a diamond shield. The logo was created by Joe Bosack, a 1994 graduate from Tyler School of Arts and Architecture. Associate professor Bryan Satalino’s fall 2021 Senior Design Workshop class helped create the new design.
Satalino explained, “they would bring in more of their refines sketches and pin them up to the wall and we would do full class crits ,…we also wanted the new logo to be a higher lever to also elevate the sports team in a way”
Temple students have expressed mixed opinions about the new design logo. Junior Hannah Nguien explains, “I love that they included student work, and I think it’s really good for sports.” Freshman Grace Hiu says, “The old logo to be honest i thought it looked kinda tacky…the newer one it looks more sleek for a university”
While some students are in favor of the new logo, others are not sold on the new design. “I think they should have kept the old logo,” says junior Carl Fagniou. “I think there’s too much going on in the new one,” says senior Jacob Smedley. You can now find the new athletics logo on merchandise sold at the campus bookstore and online
