Temple University’s Gamma Iota Sigma chapter of the Fox School of Business will continue its tradition to form a team for the Broad Street Run and raise money for a charity of choice. This year, the chapter has decided to raise money for Philadelphia’s Gift of Life, which supports transplant patients and their families. The support given helps these patients and families who are being cared for in the Philadelphia area.

Associate Professor of Risk Management and insurance and the team’s overseer, Michael McCloskey, talks about the emotional connection made by fundraising for this charity.

“You can draw the line and say this was a student just like me and this is something that happen to them and their families. When you have a connection some how some way I think it makes it more worthwhile.”

Temple Junior and communications lead Emma Sweeney talks about the impact this organization has made on her, stating that “It was also a really significant organization for me because my Dad received a kidney transplant almost 30 years ago from my Aunt. And my family’s been  really involved with the gift of life ever since.”

The team currently has 350 registered runners, which is the largest amount the team has ever had in all of their 11 years as a team. The 10 mile run will take place on Friday, May 5th in Philadelphia.
