Chancellor Englert Welcomes Students Back to Temple

Just off the start of a new semester, Chancellor and Acting President Richard Englert is welcoming the newest owls to the nest.

In a video released campus wide via email, Chancellor Englert welcomed the community back to campus, and said he believes “there has never been a better time to be at Temple.”

In just over four minutes, Englert highlights the accomplishments of the Class of 2020, which is the largest and most qualified in university history. Temple received over 34,000 freshman applications this past year, with over 5,000 joining the Class of 2020.  Footage also depicts the many construction projects being completed around campus. A new sports complex on Broad Street will be home to multiple club and intercollegiate sports, while the new library continues to rise, set to be complete in 2018.

Englert emphasized that despite the personnel changes in campus leadership, their motto stays the same.

“Temple remains the same university committed to access, affordability, diversity, and excellence.”
