Golf Ties for 13th at Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate

Williamsburg, VA- Temple men’s golf concluded their second tournament of the spring season, finishing tied for 13th in the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate. The Owls posted a final score of 896 for the tournament, progressively getting better as tournament progressed.

Day one would be a forgettable one. Despite horrible weather conditions coming into play, the best score was posted by junior Mike Teesdale shooting a four-over-par.

Par for the course is 70.

Junior Mike Amole shot a 76 on day one, senior Matthew Crescenzo carded an 80, sophomore Brandon Matthews an 81 and freshman Evan Galbreath finished with an 87.

Temple teed off Monday morning at 7:55am and would post their best overall team score on this day. Brandon Matthews shot two-over-70 leading the Owls on Monday.

Matthews followed up Monday’s effort by shooting one-under-par to cap off his tournament. Crescenzo, Galbreath, Teesdale and Amole would finish Tuesday shooting over par. The Owls would finish tied with Dayton when the tournament concluded.

Texas Tech came out on top with an overall team score of 851. Temple was not the only local team in this tournament, St. Joseph’s also made the trip to Virginia. The Hawks came in last with an overall team score of 940.

The Owls will continue their season on Friday as they head to South Carolina for the Furman Intercollegiate at Furman University Golf Course.
