The Rothman Orthopaedics ice rink had its grand opening November 8th, this past Friday.
The rink, located at Dilworth Park in Center City, and is open 7 days a week until February 23rd. From Monday through Thursdays the rink is open between noon and 9 p.m, Fridays it’s open noon to 11pm, Saturdays are 11 a.m to 11 p.m, and Sundays are 11 a.m to 8 p.m. The admission to the rink is $3 for children 10 years old and under. Admission for adults is $5, and skate rentals are $10.
To keep its’ customers interested in returning the ice rink holds many different events on a nightly basis. One event, College Nights, is hosted every Thursday night and provides college students with an admission price of only $2 if they present their school ID. Cocktails and Cold Ones, which happens every Thursday night offers its’ customers discounted bites. Santa Express is an event that brings Santa Claus to the ice rink where he leads a parade alongside Mrs. Claus and his elves.
PJ Party with Santa gives kids an opportunity to wear their PJs, eat breakfast and make arts and crafts before a special skate with Santa. Center City Fit brings professional trainers from Optimal Sport Health Clubs for workouts every Tuesday afternoon. Quizzo is a trivia event where you can win prizes, it is located in the Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin next to the rink. Karaoke Night is a weekly event presented by The Met Philadelphia inside of the Cabin. Superhero Skate is a special event for kids and parents who will meet different superheroes, skaters are encouraged to wear costumes. Sweetheart Skate is a valentines day skate where you can sing karaoke along with specially priced beverages.
For those new to skating, the rink offers a learn to skate session from professional instructors. The lessons are once a week for 5 weeks, each session is 30 minutes long. In total the lessons cost $150, the dates are January 7th, 11th, 21st, 28th, and February 4th.
