The long-awaited Love park renovation is now underway.
The new designs, drafted by Hargreaves Associates, are a part of a 16.5 million dollar project to transform the park into a greener, more modern city space. Love park is scheduled to reopen in 2017.
Last week mayor Jim Kenney lifted a long standing ban on skateboarding in the park for its final week open.
Philadelphia skaters are sad to see the park go but the granite that makes the park so famous for skateboarding won’t go to waste, the Franklin’s Paine Skatepark Fund and the Wilmington Skate Project will be storing the granite for use in future projects.
