Owls Football Begins New TV Era with ESPN+ Broadcast

This Saturday, the Owls Football matchup vs USF will be a history maker for the program. The game is going to be shown on ESPN+,  ushering in a new era of Owls Football and sports broadcasting.

The Owls home opener will be the first Temple game aired on the streaming service. This move is integral to the new deal the AAC signed with ESPN. The 12 year partnership which began in 2019, will see hundreds of additional AAC sporting events broadcasted and distributed on the digital platform.

Kevin Kopp, Associate Athletics Director/Video Production, is optimistic about the experience ESPN+ will bring to viewers:

 “Being on this state-of-the-art platform will bring unprecedented visibility to all of Temple’s sports while delivering ESPN’s industry-standard quality to our fans.”

The American joins other FBS conferences such as, the:

  • Big XII
  • Atlantic 10
  • Conference USA
  • WAC
  • & The Ivy League, among others.

ESPN+ also provides programming features such as: UFC, Top Rank, the MLB and NHL. 

What Does this Mean for Temple?

  • For the football program, select conference home games are going to be broadcasted exclusively on ESPN+.
  • For men’s basketball, it means every regular season contest not on traditional ESPN networks, is going to be aired on the streaming platform.
  • For women’s basketball, every game that’s not on ESPN2 or ESPNU will be on ESPN+.

  • Men’s soccer
  • Women’s soccer
  • Volleyball
  • Gymnastics
  • Lacrosse

Temple field hockey and fencing will remain on OwlSports.com.

ESPN+ is offered at $5.99 per month, or $49.99 a year, and can be streamed on numerous devices, such as: Apple Devices, PS4/Xbox One, Roku devices, Amazon Fire devices, etc.
