Owls in 15th, Second Round of Visit Stockton Pacific Invite

After the second round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invite at the 6,516-yard par 71 Stockton Country Club in Stockton, California, Temple men’s golf placed 15th out of 16 teams.

As a team, the Owls carded a second round total of 301, which resulted in a 17-over-par score for the day. The top four scores on the team were counted for the second round.

Senior Brandon Matthews shot a second round of 5-over-par 76. Matthews finished the second round in a tie for 44th.

Freshmen Trey Wren and Sam Soeth shot second rounds of 74 and 81, respectively. Wren finished the round in a tie for 41st and Soeth finished in 85th. Redshirt freshman John Barone carded a second round 75 to place in a tie for 79th.

Sophomore Evan Thornton carded a second round 76. Thornton placed in a tie for 71st after the round.

Sacramento State leads the three-day team tournament after carding a team total of 13-under-par 271 in round two. Matt Lee of Pacific and Landon Azevedo of Sacramento State lead the individual tournament after two-day totals of 3-under-par 139.

The Owls will look to move up the leaderboard in the final round of the fall semester on Saturday.
