Philabundance and Cherry Pantry Provide Food Resources During COVID-19

There are over 20 locations around the city and at Temple where Philadelphians can receive nutritious food when they need it most.

Cherry Pantry,Temple University’s first food pantry, helps students experiencing food insecurity by provide them with food and basic toiletries. The organization has recently moved its operations from the Howard Gittis Student Center to the TUPD Morgan Substation at 1601 Park Ave. The station is on the south side of Morgan Hall and will provide pre-packaged bags of non-perishable goods to students with a TUID. While their hours may change due to the virus, they are currently open Tuesdays from 10 am to 12 pm and Fridays from 3 pm to 5 pm.

While Cherry Pantry provides for Temple Students, Philabundance has partnered with the city to open 20 different locations across the area to provide for Philadelphians. Their mission remains the same in these trying times: Drive hunger from the communities today and end hunger forever.

The organization works to provide free food for kids, seniors, and others in need. If you are currently in need of this type of assistance, please visit here for the food map, which will allow you to enter your location and find the nearest Philabundance location.

Philabundance is also looking for volunteers and donations of non-perishable food items. You can find more information about donations and volunteer works at the links below.

The hours and availability of both of these resources remain fluid, so be sure to check their website for availability near you or reach out to some of the other organizations associated with Philabundance for more information.
