Philly Public Schools Closing for 2 Weeks Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

All Philadelphia public schools will be closed for the next two weeks due to staffing shortages amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Starting Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27, students will not report to school. The District said that every school will be thoroughly cleaned during this time.

The announcement from school district superintendant Dr. William Hite comes Friday as a significant number of school district employees live in Montgomery county and are being asked to avoid non-essential travel and to not report to work.

District officials say they realize the hardship this action may place on families and is working with various city agencies to provide meals and recreational opportunities. Visit this link for various resources throughout the city.
