Philadelphia has been having a record year, and it doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.
Vividseats.com recently named Philadelphia the number one city in Canada and the United States for live music, beating out Boston (#2), New York (#10), Washington D.C. (#3), Nashville (#15), and Los Angeles (#9).
According to the site, Philadelphia’s top genres include adult contemporary, alternative, blues/jazz, classical, and country/folk. The city earned the top spot after analysis of the number of concerts held and the median cost per ticket.
Concert goers from the City of Brotherly Love can see their favorite groups at a number of locations ranging from Coda, The Electric Factory, TLA, The Wells Fargo Center, and the brand new Fillmore.
Music has a rich history in Philadelphia, producing groups such as Hall and Oates, The Roots, and Boyz II Men. The Roots came back to their old stomping grounds most recently when they were inducted into the Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame.
Local radio stations have also contributed to the success of the Philly music scene. Radio 104.5, the Alternative station, holds an annual Summer Block Party Series monthly throughout the summer at Penn’s Landing. The station also does ticket giveaways regularly through their Twitter page.
