Residents of North Philadelphia and student activists came together in protest demanding the reinstatement of Professor Anthony Monteiro. The crowd gathered in front of Sullivan Hall, where a Board of Trustees meeting was taking place.
Protestors spoke on a variety of issues, including what they saw as the lack of intellectual diversity at Temple, the minimum wage and gentrification.
The protestors demanded that Monteiro be reinstated by the spring of 2015.
Prof. Monteiro was employed by the University as as a full time, non-tenured Associate Professor in the African American Studies Department. His contract was not renewed last spring.
