SEPTA Phasing Out Paper Tickets on Regional Rail for Key Card

SEPTA says that they will begin to phase out paper ticket sales and only accept SEPTA Key card taps as fares on Regional Rail lines this October.

With the Key Card Travel Wallet function active on trains since July, the transit agency has decided to end sales of single trip and 10-trip ticket strips on Friday, October 2nd of this year.

By “tapping in and out” with SEPTA Key, customers will receive a discounted fare rate previously only available by purchasing a 10-trip pack of tickets. Tapping in and out also ensures that customers are paying the correct fare for their trip and zones on their weekly or monthly passes.

Paper tickets are good for up to 180 days after the stamped purchase date.
