Commuter Owls rejoice! Regional Rail will return to its normal weekday schedule beginning Monday, October 3.
The Regional Rail’s fleet was reduced by one third in July, when 120 Silverliner V cars were taken off the tracks due to defects in the suspensions systems on the cars. And while not all the cars will be returning to the tracks just yet, SEPTA says 50 cars will return to service while the other 70 continue to be repaired.
“We are excited to bring Regional Rail service back to the level our loyal customers expect and deserve, said SEPTA General Manager Jeffrey D. Knueppel in a statement released Thursday. “We are grateful to our customers for their patience, and we sincerely regret the inconvenience this situation has caused.”
Commuters should review the SEPTA timetable dated June 19, 2016, for the correct schedule. The Media/Elwyn line is the only line that will not be following the timetable, and will instead follow a new schedule dated October 2. For more details on those schedule adjustments, click here.
SEPTA warns that cars may be crowded, but these conditions should improve.
