“Stranger Things” at a Beer Garden

Uptown Beer Garden is normally known as a casual place to grab a drink and sit outside. This was until they decided to decorate in the spirit of Christmas last December. To give the Beer Garden a Halloween spin they decided to turn it into everyone’s favorite tv series, “Stranger Things”, more specifically the upside down.

While walking in you can see all types of Halloween decorations like skeletons and a huge scary pumpkin man in the corner. It isn’t until you make your way to the back of the bar that’s when you see all the work that was put into it.

The bar has gone back and was able to replicate props from the first season like the famous alphabet and light wall that was seen in season one where Joyce tries to contact Will while he was in the Upside Down.

These props have great detail put into them, Shaymar Tin, a hostess at the bar spoke to Temple Update about the setup, “It was actually pretty fun to set all of this stuff up. It took like honestly maybe a week to get it all set up and running. So yeah, it was kind of fun. The takedown is gonna be the issue.”

Uptown Beer Garden will keep this theme going for the whole month of October so family, friends, and even pets can come and enjoy.

Julianna Gover, a local Philly native who came out with her friends “I mean it’s just decorated for Halloween. It’s kind of the Upside Down but you can’t really tell if you don’t look too closely. The details are pretty good now that I’m actually looking around, but it’s Halloween, who hates Halloween?”

The “Stranger Things” Beer Garden comes at a perfect time since the actor Noah Schnapp, who played Will Byers in the show, is currently attending the University of Pennsylvania as a freshman. Although I don’t think he wants to see any more demigorgans while in class. You can come visit and have a look at the decorations yourself:

Monday through Thursday | 4 p.m. to midnight
Friday | 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.
