Student Suffers Facial Injuries Due to Attack Off-Campus

An unidentified Temple student was attacked with a brick in the face on the corner of 16th & Norris Street by assailants that were described as 8-14 years old.

The 19-year-old female student was walking with her boyfriend, who told WCAU-TV that they had started to grab her hair and jewelry before finally attacking with the brick. The incident occurred around 6pm on Friday, March 21st, and “She was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery to save and align her teeth,” reported WCAU-TV’s Allison Burdo.

The student suffered facial injuries, but was discharged from the hospital Friday night.

Officials from Temple University were not contacted about the incident, as it was the Philadelphia Police Department who responded to the attack and not Temple PD.

The incident occurred on the block off of Geasey Field and near the George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science.
