Temple Football Kicks Off 2016 Training Camp

The 2016 training camp is underway for the Temple Owls, as there is just under a month until kickoff against the Black Knights of Army on September 3. Coming off of a 10-win 2015 season, the Owl’s will return 6 starters on both the offense and defense- including 3-year starting QB Phillip Walker and four all-conference honorees.

That leaves 10 new spots needing to be filled by the 2016 unit, and veteran players on the team believe last year’s success will be more than attainable this season.

Haason Reddick, one of the 4 returning All-Conference members told the SportsDesk, “We have great guys that can replace these players. With the coaches help in developing them into smarter players, better players, I believe we can keep getting better and better as a team.”

Another All-Conference honoree, OL Dion Dawkins noted, “The young guys are really impressing me. When i was a freshman we were good but these guys are outstanding.”

Coach Matt Rhule seemed overwhelmed with detailed questions about the roster, as the players have taken the field together for just the first time as a full-team just Saturday.

With 3 weeks of camp prior to the Owls first game week, a lot will be determined on Chodoff Field in the month of August.
