Temple Soccer Suffers a Tough Loss to SMU

The Owls played Game 4 of their American Athletic Conference schedule in Dallas, Texas against Saint Methodist University’s Mustangs. After a tough game the Mustangs beat the Owls 2-1. The Owls record now stands at 3-11 with an 0-4 conference record.

The Mustangs keep the Owls wide awake taking nine of eleven shots on goal in the first half. The second half the Mustangs kept the ball at the opposite end taking multiple shots on Temple’s net. In the 46th minute, SMU’s Allie Thornton scored her tenth goal of the season. Later in the the 63rd minute Claire Oates added another goal for SMU. Twenty seconds later Temple’s Kayla Cunningham scored the lone goal for the Owls tallying her second of the year.

Temple had five fouls versus SMU’s two. Both teams were keeping their benches busy substituting several times throughout the first half. No goals were scored.

Goalie Jordan Nash had nine saves. Temples Emily Keitel received a yellow card in the 79th minute.

The Owls will continue conference play against the University of South Florida October 13th back in Philadelphia at 3:30.
