Temple University had yet another successful homecoming week here on campus. Owls spread the spirit of cherry and white all across the city of Philadelphia.

The week’s festivities included different daily activities offered to students.

Monday, October 15: Festivities kicked off with Temple’s benefitting “Pack it up TU” event. Students got together at the Liacouras Center to break a Guinness Book Record that involved donating and packing as many backpacks with school supplies within an hour. From there all these backpacks would be donated to local schools and organizations in the Philadelphia area. The record was more than doubled from the year prior with 6026 bags. Temple Update was there to pitch in, too!

Tuesday, October 16: Students got nostalgically groovy with the Disco Revival event at the Howard Gittis Student Center. Many gathered for this 70’s themed dance class, with the opportunity to throw it back and dress up for the event. The main goal of the class was to reduce stress and anxiety from to midterms.

Wednesday, October 17:  What better than a night of laughs? Students had the opportunity to purchase tickets to go see the famous actor and comedian Adam Devine perform for a live Comedy Night at the Student Center. Originally scheduled guest comedian Pete Davidson canceled due to personal reasons.

Thursday, October 18: Many gathered for a night of royalty at the Student Center, premiering the annual Homecoming Pageant. Homecoming court students showed off their various talents as two walked out at the end with the crowned victory

Friday, October 19: This day marked the fourth annual Golf Cart Parade at the BellTower. Student organizations including clubs, fraternities, and sororities decorated golf carts to be judged by an esteemed panel. Inflatables, food, drink, and performances were all provided

Saturday, October 20: The homecoming game against the University of Cincinnati Bearcats kicked off at the Linc. Temple was victorious with a final score of 24-17. Students, families, alumni, and more showed off their cherry and white pride for an early tailgate, witnessing yet another victory for the Owls

All homecoming events were hosted by Temple’s Main Campus Program Board — check back with templeupdate.com for more information on future events.
