Philadelphia Film Society Hosts 24th Annual Film Festival

The Philadelphia Film Festival returns for its 24th engagement hosted by the Philadelphia Film Society from October 22 to November 1.

The eleven day festival will showcase independent, feature length, animated, short and foreign films in one of seven historic Philadelphia movie theaters including the Ritz East, Prince Theater and Ritz at the Bourse.

Philadelphia Film Festival opened with Anomalisa, a feature film by the writer of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind at the Prince Theater, follow by an welcoming party at the 1975 lounge.

Closing night will include a ceremony announcing the 2015 Grand Jury and Audience award winners, a screening of Michael Moore’s Where to Invade Next and a closing night masquerade party at the Prince Theater.

Other notable events include a Young Friends of the Philadelphia Film Society Preview Party, a marathon of Wes Craven’s scariest films on Halloween and an informative panel discussing the festival planning and selection process.

Students in the area are given the opportunity to see films at the festival for free on field trips due to the Student Screening Showcase to learn about cinematic storytelling and current events.

Tickets range between $5 and $13, so do not miss the opportunity to see some of the hottest films in Philadelphia.
