Temple University uses programs such as the Temple Veteran Association (TVA) to help ease veterans transition from active duty to college life.
TVA President Ashley Rodriguez and Benefits Officer Nick White are in charge of helping veterans in areas such as career development, academic excellence, networking and more.
Rodriguez came to Temple in Spring 2015 to study Communications Studies after being deployed to places like Japan, England, and serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
White has been deployed overseas and served on the USS George Washington for roughly five years. He is currently pursuing a career in mechanical engineering.
After graduation, Rodriguez hopes to continue working with veterans and opening a post-9/11 center to connect the soldiers.
Efforts like Rodriguez’s and White’s have helped Temple gain its reputation as a military friendly institution and named best college for veterans.
